David Tennant plays Peter Vincent, a Chris Angel-type Las Vegas magician.

Original movie plot: Peter Vincent was originally a washed up old actor who hosted a late night horror movie show called "Fright Night." Roddy McDowall played him as a sad and fearful shell of a man who finally redeems himself while helping the main character, Charley Brewster, vanquish a real life vampire who has moved in next door and begun killing his friends and assorted prostitutes.

David Tennant is playing a much younger character than the original, and the character's background is supposedly completely different too. The good news? Marti Noxon's writing the script. MARTI NOXON, script writer and one time showrunner of Buffy. She gets a lot of flack for certain things that happened in the show's later years, but IMHO you can point to any number of things as the reason for the decline in quality (this is strictly subjective, too). However, this makes me happy.

He's joined by Anton Yelchin (yay Checkov!), Colin Farrell, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

I seriously didn't recognise DT at first, even with the name in the image url. It probably would have taken me a lot longer to get it if it was just the picture. The eyes are the only recognisable thing, and even then it's not obvious to me. Huh. This should be interesting and I hope for his sake it does well.

Tennant + vampires? This I have to see. And I don't mind Marti at all, so no lose here.
