GLEEEEEEE :D (AND JOSS AND NPH AND OMFG WIN)
I'll try to keep my fangirl emotions to a minimum, and all spoilers under the cut. That being said, feel free to go crazy with me. :D
Glee episode 1x19, aka "Dream On", aka the episode with Jonathan Groff and Idina Menzel and NPH and directed by Joss Whedon AND LOTS OF AWESOME THINGS GOING ON HERE.
LAWL. NPH wasn't kidding when he said his character was a jerk.
I love how Kurt immediately grabbed the bedazzled jean jacket. XDD
No clue whether the line Will has about 'his dreams of being on Broadway never happening' was written on purpose as a reference of sorts or not, but I couldn't help but snicker at it.
Heeee. Broadway playbills being hidden like a porn stash. I LOL'D HARD.
Sweet, Jonathan Groff's back. :D I missed him last week. Unfortunately, no singing, but all the other awesome songs make up for it.
I was one of the ones joking (before/during season one) how they should get Idina Menzel to be Rachel's mom. And then I hear they cast her in the show. So I figured they'd make Jesse the spy (which kinda happened) to get her to think Idina's her mom as a plot that culminates in breaking up the Glee club (and Jesse/Rachel).
AND THEN WHAT THE HECK SHE ACTUALLY IS AND IT'S NOT A TRAP AND OMG SO SWEET. (and then look previews this story isn't over yet aaaaaah can't wait)
I was loving every minute of the Les Miserables references, and then they go and throw in "I Dreamed A Dream" with Idina Menzel and Lea Michele holy cow could it look or sound any better i think not. Especially the cut from the stage to the car in the rain. Perfect.
From my friend @EtceteraElla on Twitter: "nice nod there, #glee screenwriters! Patti LuPone, the woman Rachel originally says is her mother, originated the role of Fantine in Les Mis"
That, and the Bernadette Peters thing, made me crack up laughing. My poor sisters had no idea why.
Time for random trivia linkage moments: What's also coincidentally awesome is that Lea Michele's played both Young Cosette and Eponine before. And the first thing we hear her sing on Glee is "On My Own".
Bryan Ryan goes to confront Sue and sparks fly, hate!sex is mentioned, and it's quite ridiculous and funny at the same time. I foresee so much fanfic fodder.
Aw, Artie. I love him for his charisma and optimism. That was a really really great dream sequence, and I love how the cameras captured it all from different angles and viewpoints.
DREAM ON. HOLY COW. WAS THAT AMAZING OR WHAT. I COULDN'T BREATHE BECAUSE I WANTED TO HEAR EVERY NOTE. ASDFGHJKL; and that high part omfg i melted it was gorgeous. I heard somewhere that both of them performed that live (and good for them, because autotune or lipsynching would have made it a million times less awesome).
Just my dream-wishing here (ha ha, look what I did there) but they really do need to let NPH be Javert (or Valjean). He would rock it. Matthew Morrison can be whichever guy Neil isn't. :D
So the whole theme of the night was dreams and the achievement of them, and it seems like a fitting storyline for Joss' episode (despite simply directing), since he has a history of making the Big Bad become our own fears working to destroy our ambitions.
A+++++ to all involved and I look forward to next week with great joy.
Thoughts? Agree/disagree?
