So I'm stealing a page from
bishojo_kitsune's book and making myself a reminder post. Nothing too fancy but it'll be useful to keep my thoughts and priorities collected.
Hi, self. Pay attention later, there will be a test. Or you will forget something and fail epically. We don't want that. Especially me.
1. Browncoat Ball.
This is like the BIG to-do. Late October, 3 days, it's at least $165 for a weekend pass and another $50 if I decide to do the 'Thrilling Heroics' track. Because of the white water rafting which is SO FUN. (The other two options are a historical museum tour or a Nascar museum, and you know I'm not a sports person).
And then there's the matter of spending money AND FOOD. So all together, probably close to $300 total, minimum? (If you go with $50 for food and at least $50 for spending money.) Yeep. o_o;;
2. Actual savings in the bank.
I have under half of that. $140 to be precise. Another $20 from my friend's scarf that I made but haven't called in on yet, and then $25 more promised me after I do a big fluffy scarf with the meadow yarn I already bought, for my dad. This is all I know for certain so far. That brings me to $185. So I've got the ticket cost covered and like meals for 1-2 days if I'm cheap. Cheap is good. (note: stay on diet. bring Slimfast cans to put in fridge in hotel for at least breakfasts. I will kick you if you don't and I don't like pain.)
3. Ways to get money.
Flea market. Downtown on October 1 for a few hours and it's my goal to bring all my old books and whatever knits/beanbags I currently have made to try and sell there. So I can make a ton of things with my existing yarn stock and fabrics and cut down on expenses.
Etsy. I need to do that ASAP because it's got a bigger audience than I currently have now, so it's a matter of finishing pricing things and then figuring out the shipping costs. Self, go see if parental units don't mind footing the small bill for boxing/wrapping them up so you can see how much shipping is.
Craigslist: I've already got everything except the handmade goods posted, and I was THISCLOSE to getting $40 before the lady backed out on the books. No big deal. Just fix up the posts to look nice and shiny, go post the other books you found, and try to list the knits/beanbags.
Commissions. Obviously, this depends on getting word out that I'm *doing* commissions. Or me going ahead and making Harry Potter scarves and then going HEY WANNA BUY ONE. I have a possible sale for a Rent scarf for $20 if I make it but nothing's final. There's also shouts for Ravenclaw/Griffindor scarves so possibly if I get a pricing worked out and pay mom back for the yarn colors, I could do this feasibly. I'd just be knitting like crazy, is all. (WHOEVER'S ACTUALLY READING THIS SHOULD BACK ME UP AND POKE/PROD/THREATEN ME INTO KNITTING A LOT AT VARIOUS TIMES. KTHX.)
Get a job. Yeah. This is gonna be tough since it cuts into my knitting time. >>; Kidding. I can juggle both, I have no college work. Self, you're applying for Subway/Walmart/anywhere. Babysitting is always a plus, or yardwork. You know how to do yardwork pretty well. During the weekdays. Weekends are when I spend time with the BF and do things like knitting and flea markets and conventions. Yeah.
I think that's it, self. So go to bed, be smart, listen to me tomorrow. That is all.
