shinydinosaurAfter the cut are my immediate thoughts on the episode, post-viewing.
Pretty awesome plot. Lots of House, and lots of delving into his psyche. I freaking love that kind of episode, and this is full of it. Love.
Wilson got like two whole scenes and a handful of lines. At least he showed up, but this was entirely a House/Cuddy episode. And the patient. And that's okay. They need some time to rage at each other, and the patient is getting House to open up and be human. Plus the whole amputation argument is so clearly an issue for House, and he hasn't talked about that in a few seasons, so it's all good too.
House gives book to Cuddy, she freaks out, we find out she's engaged to Lucas. It's all good.
House goes into rubble for a patient, which is new, and he keeps coming back and forming a bond with her. She's got basically the same situation as he did with the amputation issue, only he recognizes what his life turned out to be because he chose to keep his leg but lose everyone around him, become hard and cynical, miserable, and in pain. He comes to terms with that and helps her realize that she doesn't want that; she has a husband who loves her and she needs him.
Before all this, Cuddy blows up at House in the middle of this already-stressful crisis, and informs him that she and Lucas are moving on, Wilson's moving on, and House is alone. And that he should basically just deal with it.
He decides to deal with it by going home and breaking into the one remaining hiding spot for his Vicodin. He's so ready to give up fighting everything and relapse despite all the character development, and I'm so close to rooting for him. And then we see someone show up. WHY COULDN'T IT BE WILSON WTF WTF WTF WTFFFFFF.
WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUCK JUST HAPPENED.
IT WAS AWESOME AND HOUSE BECAME MORE HUMAN WITH THE PATIENT AND THEN HE WENT TO THE DEPTHS OF DESPAIR AND CUDDY WAS ALL "I'M MOVING ON WILSON'S MOVING ON YOU'RE ALONE DEAL WITH IT"
THEN I WAS SO CLOSE TO ROOTING FOR HIM TO SELF-DESTRUCT AND TAKE VICODIN EVEN THOUGH HE'S BLEEDING AND HE'D PROBABLY STROKE OR SOMETHING AND HE'S WORKED SO HARD AGAINST IT AND THEN OMG OMG OMGOMG OMGOMG IS THA WILSON HELPING HIM PLZ PLZ PLZ IT BETTER BE AND THEN WTF CUDDY GOOGLYEYES BREAKING OFF AN ENGAGEMENT AND SEASON-LONG STABLE RELATIONSHIP TO BE ALL LOVEYDOVEY ILU AT HIM AND THEN WTFFFFFF
IT'S LIKE REALLY BAD FANFIC ONLY IT'S CANON NOW AND WE'RE ALL TREATED TO AN UNHEALTHY DOSE OF HUDDY. FOR A WHOLE FUCKING SEASON WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY.
I have to admit I'm a subtext!Hilson shipper all the way (meaning I love what they do with the relationship onscreen and it's SUCH a bromance and if you can't see it you're either blind or in denial, but I'd never want it to go past the epic subtext), but I'm generally not opposed to Huddy if it's written well or fits the character development. But this was just completely out of left field. First Cuddy says she's absolutely done sticking up for and dealing with House, next she's at his apartment saying she loves him and then they start kissing and crap. TPTB have seriously screwed us and House up.
House has a record of being happy only when he's got support from someone (usually Wilson), but now it's going to be EXACTLY LIKE THAT ONLY WITH ROMANCE AND CUDDY WTF.
Oh, and my money's on Thirteen quitting, because her Huntington's is making her degenerate faster than she thought. I knew what she was gonna say right before she put the letter on House's desk.
And now we've gotta wait until FREAKING SEPTEMBER to see how the Huddy tragedy ends. I just wanna keep watching for the inevitable trainwreck, forif> when they split up and House goes all depths of despair.

SOMEONE FUCKING SHOOT ME, GUYS. THIS SHOW IS GOING DOWN THE DAMN DRAIN AND I AM TO THE POINT OF CRYING BUT I'M SO NUMB THAT I CAN'T EVEN TALK LIKE LITERALLY I HAVEN'T SAID A WORD OR MADE A NOISE SINCE I WATCHED IT LIKE THREE HOURS AGO. I WANT TO CRY SO BADLY BUT IT HURTS TOO MUCH INSIDE TO CRY IT FEELS LIKE I'M DYING.
This show has had consistently good writers and episodes amongst the few bad ones but this just destroys everything. It's so OOC it makes me sick. I'm scared of what's going to happen next and I don't want one of my most beloved shows derailing this fucking hard but some part of me is screaming that they better end it on a good note and soon if they don't fix this shit.

WORD. I was SO counting on Wilson to be the one in the doorway. It would make ACTUAL SENSE. Man, I think I'm just done with Huddy. I was all ready for it in season 3, then I held out for actual good writing through all of S4, S5 and S6. But THAT finale. The deal is OFF.
I think the only part of this episode that actually worked was the stuff with the patient. Her ultimate death was merciless drama. Good stuff. But all the other ~emotional~ drama in this episode was SO BAD. SO. BAD. All of the Huddy stuff was just terribly executed. Not even Hugh Laurie can pull off that shit. And don't even get me started on the last shot of the hand-holding. GOOD GOD PEOPLE.
